Who We Are
Dr. Jason Hnatko, PhD, PE, is an environmental engineer with more than 20 years of experience investigating and remediating complex environmental contamination challenges. A licensed Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, Jason specializes in contaminated site investigation, remediation system design, emerging contaminants, and regulatory strategy, with particular expertise in per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). He has managed projects ranging from Superfund site investigations and groundwater remediation to the evaluation and deployment of innovative treatment technologies, helping industrial, commercial, and public-sector clients navigate technically challenging environmental issues.
Jason earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Tufts University, where his research focused on PFAS and the bioremediation of chlorinated solvents. Throughout his career at leading environmental consulting firms and technology companies, he has led multidisciplinary teams, developed and implemented treatment technologies, authored peer-reviewed publications, and contributed to national technical guidance, including the Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council’s (ITRC) PFAS guidance on foam fractionation. He founded Vine Brook Environmental to provide clients with practical, science-based solutions grounded in technical excellence, clear communication, and a commitment to achieving successful project outcomes.
